Grumpy Old Man

On Friday, in the kitchen at work, I saw a sign that says "Live Medieval Combat." What was sad was not so much that the sign was there, but that of the 10 detachable contact info slips on the ad, 6 were gone. I've never seen the ad in the kitchen before, and already 6 of those slips were gone.

In other news, yesterday I went and checked out the Blue Angels who did some aerial acrobatics here over Lake Washington. I'm becoming more of a grumpy old man every moment, because the airshow wasn't very interesting to me. Granted what the pilots do is very impressive, but flocks of birds do a lot of the stuff they do, all the time. I sometimes sit and marvel at birds' ability to do acrobatics in the sky, especially when they're in groups.

I have every episode from the original Star Trek, purchased through Columbia House. I have watched a couple of them, so my money wasn't completely wasted. Really though, it was a bad allocation of my college money. I've decided to start watching some episodes, and in the past few days I saw two, "The Deadly Years" and "Friday's Child." They were both pretty bad. Is the original Star Trek really that bad? I do remember some very good episodes, "The Trouble with Tribbles" and "The City on the Edge of Forever" being two of my favorites. I'll defer judgment.

I used to watch every episode of The Land of the Lost, a strange series that put a bunch of modern-day humans into a kind of weird prehistoric world with dinosaurs and the dreaded "Sleestak." I think they were trying to find an excuse to have people around dinosaurs and mysterious crap, and they did a pretty good job of it. Anyway, I bet that series is much worse than I remember too.
