Shady QFC

There's a grocery store near my house called QFC ("Quality Food Center"). It's a pretty classy, expensive grocery store common in the Seattle area. In the past 8 days they've overcharged me twice.

The first time, on 10/26, I purchased a whole cooked chicken. I don't know why the prices on their whole chickens fluctuate as much as they do (maybe so they have an excuse for their "mistakes"), but that day it was supposed to be $6.49 a chicken. I noticed that the bar code reader said it was $7.49, so I asked what was up. "Oh, those types of chickens are supposed to be $7.49." I had not, to my knowledge, purchased any kind of premium chicken, just the normal one whose price on the display said $6.49. I looked at all the price tags on the chickens themselves and said, "every single chicken out there has a price of $7.49." They finally took the dollar off.

Then today I'm at QFC and it happens again. I purchased a 24-oz Dasani water bottle. I know, the bottles are bad for the environment, and even the listed $1.19 price is ridiculous, but it's convenient. The bar code reader said $1.99. After an annoying "price check" wasting my precious time, they took off my $0.80.

It's not that I care about the $1.80 too much, but it really makes me wonder how many other items QFC screws everyone over on.
